Our Story

Stirling Polo is the result of generations dedicated to the land, horses, and the game of polo. The story begins in ‘Estancia La Esmeralda’ with David Stirling Díaz, a passionate cattle breeder and accomplished 10-goal polo player, whose legacy inspired a family tradition rooted in excellence. Over the years, the Stirling family has been involved in every aspect of the sport: from breeding and training horses, to organising tournaments and managing some of the most iconic polo clubs in the region.

That legacy was strengthened by his son David Stirling Crevoisier and David’s wife Marcela Fernández, who dedicated their lives to polo. David became a professional player and brought his experience to the world of polo management, tournament organisation and club development projects. He devoted his career to managing clubs and planning polo projects across South America and Europe. Much of his work was centered in Sotogrande, where he contributed significantly to the development of polo.

Marcela became a pioneer in hospitality and lifestyle services around the sport. She led catering and social-event production for polo tournaments, founded a polo-inspired clothing store and today offers comprehensive support services to international teams playing in Sotogrande.

The following generation continued the tradition in various ways. David ‘Pelon’ Stirling went on to become the most successful foreign player in the history of Argentine polo. His experience at the top of the sport gave him unique expertise in team and horse management and his breeding operation ‘Cria Oriental’ is now considered one of the best in the world.

Jejo Taranco, another family member, built a global career as a high-goal player while also managing renowned clubs and breeding operations. His knowledge of tournaments, club operations, and horse management has made him a highly respected figure in the sport.

Malena Stirling, also part of this new generation, has dedicated her career to polo hospitality. She has worked with leading organisations in tournament planning, and is especially recognised for her role in coordinating hospitality services and guest experiences during major events.

Today, Stirling Polo carries forward this wealth of knowledge and tradition. Deeply influenced by past and present generations, the company combines history with a modern, global vision of the sport. It offers exclusive polo experiences in Argentina and Uruguay, organises international tournaments, manages and develops clubs, breeds high-quality horses and advises international patrons and teams.
