Polo Tournaments

Polo tournament organization is at the heart of what we do. We organize and manage some of the most prestigious polo events in the region.

Uruguayan Open

The Uruguayan Open is the most prestigious tournament in Uruguay. Organised by the Uruguayan Polo Association and hosted in Punta del Este, it features high-goal teams (14–18 goals) competing at the highest level of the region. With top players, international patrons, and competitive action, it represents the peak of Uruguayan polo.

Running in parallel, the Santa Cruz Cup (8–12 goals), a low-goal tournament (0 to 6 goals) and the Uruguayan Ladies Open offer a broader platform for participation. The event blends elite sport, top horses, and a vibrant social atmosphere, making it a must-attend week for polo families and enthusiasts.

Copa Presidencia

Held right after Christmas, the Copa Presidencia marks the official start of the high-goal season in Punta del Este. Sanctioned by the Asociación Uruguaya de Polo, this tournament brings together some of the region’s top players and teams, featuring a 14–18 goal level of play.

Alongside the main tournament, a low-goal cup (0 to 6 goals) and a kids’ tournament are held simultaneously, making it a complete experience for players and families alike. With a festive spirit and a competitive edge, the Copa Presidencia has become a cornerstone of summer polo in Uruguay.

Copa Santa Cruz

Played from January 2 to 9, the Copa Santa Cruz is Punta del Este’s premier medium-goal tournament (10–12 goals), held in parallel with the prestigious Uruguayan Open. Hosted at the stunning Estancia Santa Cruz, known for its top-class field and full amenities, the tournament delivers an exceptional polo and lifestyle experience just minutes from Jose Ignacio.

Now a summer tradition, with several editions already played, the Copa Santa Cruz attracts a competitive lineup of teams from Uruguay, Argentina and beyond. It’s the ideal tournament for patrons and players seeking a high-quality, well-run event in a relaxed yet exclusive setting.

Copa Alfredo de Souza, Río Negro Polo Club

Held every Easter Week in the town of Young, this tournament is the most traditional and best-attended polo event in Uruguay. With over 20 teams across two levels, it gathers players and families from all over the country and the region, creating a festive and competitive atmosphere.

Beyond the sport, it’s a true family event; a meeting point for generations and friends who return year after year to share asados, watch great polo and enjoy the club’s unique sense of community. Recognised as a tournament of national tourism interest, it stands as a symbol of Uruguayan polo heritage.
